From Delhi to Pune to Faridabad and Kolkata, Rahul’s visits to the finalists’ (Harpreet, Mrinmai, Nikunj and Dimpy) homes. While preparations are on in full swing at the Mahajan household, celebrations don’t seem to stop at these four cities either.

It has always been Priyadarshani Singh's dream to marry Rahul Mahajan. So when the reality show Rahul Dulhania Le Jayega was launched on NDTV Imagine, she promptly auditioned.

Unfortunately, the 24-year-old girl's dream was short-lived.

Priyadarshini, who hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, talks about her elimination from the show, and who she thinks will be the future Mrs Rahul Mahajan.

How was your experience on the show?

I've always dreamt of meeting Rahul Mahajan. I had a huge crush on him, so getting an opportunity to spend time with him was an experience of a lifetime. My experience on this show has been fantastic. Being in Fatehgarh was like living in a fantasy world.

Do you think you got enough time to spend with Rahul Mahajan?

Not really. Honestly, during my entire journey on this show, I never had a one-on-one date with Rahul. But I will not say that he was unfair to me. I made the most of whatever time I got to spend with him. Marriage is a sacred institution and it's Rahul's decision.

Why do you think you were eliminated?

I think I was too honest. I wished I could be more diplomatic. I can't be fake. I always give honest opinions. That could be the reason.

How did your friends and family react to your eviction?

They were astonished. They wanted me to fulfill my dream and win.

Is Rahul Mahajan all set to marry Nikunj Malik?

Rahul Mahajan is seen on cloud nine theses days as he has reached the last lap of his swayamwar season.

Even though he isn’t sure whom he will marry in the coming days, Rahul Mahajan pursued none other than superstar Amitabh Bachchan to come to his TV wedding.

As reported by a daily, it happened on a flight to Delhi when Rahul coincidentally met Big B. On seeing that his co-passenger was the legendary superstar, Rahul went up to him and bowed to touch his feet and seek blessing. And later he asked the star to come to his marriage that is going to happen soon on national television.

Rahul said to Amitabh, “Aapko meri shaadi mein zaroor aana hai. Aaoge na?” to which Amitabh couldn’t reply and was visibly embarrassed, an eyewitness told the daily.

The boy has confirmed his meeting with the star and says that he will contact Amitabh’s secretary and will go with a formal invitation to his house.

While Rahul Mahajan is meeting each and every bride on his swayamvar reality show, 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega', he is getting closer to 21-year-old Dimpy Ganguly from Kolkata. Dimpy is a model and TV anchor and knows how to impress people.

TV actor Ram Kapoor says he always thought of Rahul Mahajan as a notorious guy, but his perception changed when he met him on the sets of the reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega"

"I got to meet Rahul for the first time on the sets of this show. Whatever I knew of him was through articles that I had read about his various scandals. So I formed an opinion that maybe he is wild and immature. But all that drastically changed when I met him," said Ram, who is hosting the show.

"He is a very different man underneath. He is very emotional and sensitive," he added.

Yeh sabhi ladkiya bahut chalu hai , says Ashutosh Kaushik

Big Boss 2 winner Ashutosh Kaushik, who was recently seen on Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega is not too impressed with the ladies at the swayamvar.

He says, “Yeh sabhi ladkiya bahut chalu hai, inko pata hai kya aur kab bolna hai. (They are quite shrewd, they know exactly what to say and where.) When Rahul bhaiya invited me on show I was really happy and excited.”

The show is strictly business and well-scripted, believes Ashutosh. On his personal favourite, he says, “How can I have a favourite? I hardly met them.” But what he does know is that, “All these girls have come here after fighting with their boyfriends. Priyadarshni, for one, is a big drama queen and it’s all ‘natak’ or drama that she went to the BJP office just to meet Rahul Mahajan.” “Nikunj is a sensible girl and knows how to deal with,” he says as an afterthought.

Any advice for Rahul? He replies, “He’ll do whatever he wants, so no point giving any suggestions.” The incident regarding Dimpy’s boyfriend on the show, he terms “a small incident that was overhyped for TRPs.” And will Rahul actually marry someone from the show? “Why not? He has to marry someone. Given a chance, even I would love to hold a Swayamvar!”

Rahul invited Big B for his wedding

On spotting the superstar, Mahajan went up to him and touched his feet to seek his blessings. Bachchan acknowledged the gesture, but he wasn’t about to get off lightly as it was not over for Mahajan.

An eyewitness said, “Suddenly, Mahajan held Bachchan’s feet and said, ‘Aapko meri shaadi mein zaroor aana hai. Aaoge na?’” This time, Amitabh was visibly embarrassed. He did not reply, but managed a faint smile. However, Rahul persisted with his invitation. After all, how often do you bump into the Big B where he can be cornered with such ease?


Mahajan confirmed that he met Bachchan on Monday morning. Speaking from Delhi, where he said he had gone for some personal work, Mahajan said, “I met Mr Bachchan and hugged him. Actually, I met him in the bus, which takes you from the runway to the airport. We met very warmly. I know Mr Bachchan and I have interacted with him before when I worked with him for the Vijay concert in Srinagar (to celebrate the Kargil victory). And he and Jayaji had even visited my dad when he was in the hospital. Yes, I invited him to my wedding.”

Mahajan also admitted that he had pursued Bachchan to attend the celebration.


And what was Bachchan’s reply? Will he attend the finale of Rahul Dulhania Le Jayega slated for March 6? Mahajan replied, “He nodded. And yes, I am going to take a formal invitation to his house around February 20. I told him that I would seek an appointment for the same from his secretary.”

Twinkle Mukherjee out of 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'

The dashing and strong Bengali girl, Twinkle Mukherjee is out of NDTV Imagine's reality show, 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'. There was a competition between Delhi girl, Priyadarshini Singh and Twinkle, but Twinkle got the thumbs down.

Twinkle and Priyadarshini have been at loggerheads for various reasons. While Priyadarshini resorted to drama and [Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega] over-acting to draw Rahul Mahajan's attention, Twinkle failed to express herself before the groom.

Twinkle was one among the three Bengali girls, who were selected for Rahul's swayamvar. The 22-year-old Twinkle is from Sreerampur, and a qualified engineer from West Bengal University of Technology. She loves to ride bikes and play outdoor sports. She is strong both physically and mentally.

Rahul got emotional while bidding adieu to Twinkle Mukherjee. They both hugged each other and parted ways, as the show moved on.

Designer Shabina Khan says that Rahul Mahajan, son of the slain Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, has given standing instructions that he wants to wear only non-itchy clothes for his reality show “Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega”.
“Rahul was not very fussy and choosy with the designs. He had just laid a very simple ground rule that he does not want any itchy fabric to be used as comfort was his first priority,” Shabina told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

“Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega” went on air Feb 1 on NDTV Imagine.

“He let me explore my creativity, in appropriation with his personality. I used warm fabrics with rich textures and splashed a lot of colours.”

Shabina Khan has worked as designer for more than 30 films, including “Hum Aapke Hain Koun?”, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”.

“It was a wonderful experience to work with Rahul. He is very talkative and fun-loving person.”

When asked about his looks and personality, Shabina said: “Rahul doesn’t represent a high profile metrosexual hunk. He has very sweet middle-class look (Mumbaiya looks) which helps him appeal to the masses and relate more.”

Shabina started designing for Salman Khan initially and has also designed for stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Madhuri Dixit.

Shabina’s forthcoming projects are Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Chenab Gandhi”, Vipul Shah’s “Action Replay” and Sajid Nadiadwala’s “Housefull”.

NDTV Imagine's endeavour to scout for the "right bride" for controversial politico-television personality Rahul Mahajan may have riveted the audiences to the channel, but it's surely not warmed up the slot just the way Rakhi's Swayamvar did in its debut week.

Unlike the high grades that Rakhi's oomph fetched for the channel on her maiden day appearance (4.1 TVR), Rahul's Dulhaniya Le Jaayega (RDLJ) has got a debut rating of 2.1 TVR.

Also, while Rahul batted the week ended 6 February for an average TVR of 1.5, Rakhi had a higher average of 2.7 TVR in her first week on NDTV Imagine.

However, the property's second innings has helped NDTV Imagine shore up its GRP scoreboard to 104 points in the week, compared to 90 GRPs it clocked in the previous week.

Come what may, the Rahul Mahajan brand has indisputably not made it to the viewership charts like Rakhi and for media observers the reason is not just a difference in the magnetic element between the two, but also "a promise not kept!"

Says a media observer, "The show began with a promise that it would find the right groom for Rakhi with whom she would get married and live happily ever after. But it failed to keep that promise alive. As a result, viewers might not trust the show promise once again in its second season."

Such format shows could have their own limitations. "This is because people understood the format well in the debut season and thus, maybe now they expect something fresh in the new term. And that, if not delivered, will affect the viewership base," says the programming head of a rival network.

The other properties that have added to the channel GRPs include Bandini (1.7 TVR), Palkon Ki Chaaon Mein (1.7 TVR), Devi (1.6 TVR) and Shani Shinganapur Kathayen (1.4 TVR).

Meanwhile, Star Plus has ousted Zee TV to the second spot, riding on the back of the 16th Star Screen Awards that pocketed a TVR of 6.6. The non-fiction property was telecast on 31 January at 8 pm.

While Zee TV has slipped to 261 from 309 over the week-ago period, Sony Entertainment television is stable at 169 (170 last week). Zee TV, however, has the most-watched show in Pavitra Rishta that has once again topped with a peak TVR of 7.0. Last week, the show dislodged Colors' Laado to occupy the number one slot.

Colors continues to rule the rooster with 318 GRPs (321 in previous week). Star Plus grips the second pole with 303 points, a 56 point jump over the previous week.

A close look at the other GECs: Sab is two points down over previous week to stand at 84 while Star One is one point down at 39; Sahara One has marched four points up the ladder to clock 31 GRPs.

NDTV imagine is all set to trot out the second season of its Swayamvar franchise, titled Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.

The earlier season which picked Rakhi Sawant as the prospective bride-to-be, witnessed contenders going through a series of tasks to test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and also their compatibility.

The show which was a smash hit after it kicked off on air had weaved a considerable amount of footage for the channel.

Focusing on open trendy marriages, once again the channel plans to invite everyone to the wedding of the season. For this, they have roped in the popular son of the late BJP politician Pramod Mahajan, Rahul Mahajan.

Rahul will be dressed in sherwani and has been given a chance to go through a catalog of 15 prospective brides to eventually select his dream life partner.

Rahul Mahajan, whose television career had really kicked off with Bigg Boss Season 2 is back on TV with this show.

As the starting point Rahul along with the production team of the show is said to have picked out 15 contestants out of the 9,000 applicants.

The show will also feature Ram Kapoor who has been roped in again for the second season.

Many other small screen artistes will also make an appearance as guests for the groom-to-be.

Sambhava Seth has been given the role of sister-in-law, who was incidentally in Mahajan’s camp in the Bigg Boss house. She is said to have made a couple
of visits to the sets and even actively participated in the screening process.

As expected, NDTV Imagine's latest Swayamvar reality show, "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" has seen a sharp increase on its TRP, even the show is just a week old. The Swayamvar Season 2, featuring Rahul Mahajan, has hit the TV screens on February 1.

Out of 15 contestants, three were eliminated during the first week and Rahul is now left with 12 beautiful, gorgeous and intelligent girls. It's not easy for him to pick up a girl of his choice without the help of Ram Kapoor, his wife and 'sister' Sambhavna Seth.

According to latest reports, two NRI girls, who were Rahul Mahajan's favourites, are being introduced to the show soon. They could not get the work permit earlier, but now are all set.

He has always stressed the importance of ensuring that the girls are well taken care of, given that they are far away from home and have no family around them. It’s really sweet to see the care he takes. I’m sure he will find a woman who will truly love him for what he is.”

Well, various speculations being made if Rahul Mahajan will really marry one of the 15 ladies on the reality show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega. However, Rahul seems to have made it clear that he will surely marry one of the girls and take her along with him.

And after his marriage he has an interesting plan for his honeymoon. Rahul says, “I agreed to be part of this show because I wanted to marry this way. I thought it would make a romantic story to tell my children and grandchildren. After my wedding, I will go on my honeymoon to a tropical land.”

Well, girls on the show must be really excited after knowing this.

Do Rahul Mahajan wants a NRI girl for him?

While whole of the country is still wondering whether Rahul Mahajan will actually marry a girl on his swayamwar, reports are there that the son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan is very much serious about his marriage and is leaving no stone unturned for selecting the perfect bride, even if it take to marry an NRI.

Rahul has sortlisted two babes, Devinder Sidhu and Shati Dinno, but initially the girls were not allowed to participate on the show.

But now, the two NRI girls are all set to woo Rahul with their uniqe sense of style and humour on th show.

One by one, the girls from the show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega would come to the jharokha (large window) with their faces covered with their dupattas and address Rahul as ‘Aji Sunte Ho’ in different accents. Bechara Rahul had to identify all the girls by their names. The girls exchanged their dupattas, rings and bangles to make it tougher for him. But our groom played it safe! Every girl who came to the jharokha, Rahul would address her as Twinkle. While others were disappointed, Twinkle stood smiling confidently waiting for her turn to call ‘Aji Sunte Ho’. Incidentally, he recognised five out of 12 girls. Was Twinkle the lucky one in these?

Rahul Mahajan gets a surprise

Rahul Mahajan got a pleasant surprise from the channel when they brought in his two favorite NRI girls into the competition, the very ones who could not make it into the final 15 contestants' line-up as they did not get the required work permit to come to India.

According to our source, "Rahul had taken a kind of fascination to these two pretty NRI girls, Devinder Sidhu and Shannti Dinnoo, and had in fact chosen them to be in the starting line-up in his Swayamvar show on NDTV Imagine, Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega. However, this did not happen as the channel could not get them the much-needed work permit, as they were foreign nationals. It is heard that Rahul had then requested the channel to do something to get them into the show".

And to the surprise of Rahul, the channel did manage to clear the issue and they have now included the two girls, who will be introduced in tomorrow's episode. "This has surely brought a big smile on Rahul's face, but this news has not gone down well with the other 15 contestants who were found frowning at the sudden inclusion of two new competitors into the show, and that too after one week of serious drama", adds our source.

The two girls might have bowled Rahul in the first round, but they surely have their task cut out, as they will have to face the wrath of the other 15 contestants now. For the uninitiated, Devinder Sidhu happens to be the sister of popular VJ Teejay Sidhu who is married to actor Karnvir Bohra.
